Shrink Plastic Challenge!

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a fabulous weekend.
Inspiration Emporium is at it again. Chelle and Joy challenged the team to create something using Shrink Plastic. So here you have it!

It's a necklace, I can't wait to wear it and show it off. This Bird Branch die cut is one of my favorites and it's super cute all shrunk.

Die cut the Bird Branch using Shrink Plastic, the die is from the Tim Holtz Alterations line from Sizzix.

Heat the Shrink Plastic with a Heat tool. As the plastic shrink it will curl up but not to worry keep heating and it will flatten back out. While it's still warm I also like to put an acrylic block on it to help flatten the image back out.

Look how cute it is now! The Ranger Shrink Plastic shrinks approximately 50%.

Color the backside of the Shrink Plastic with Copic markers. Work on a white surface to help see the color.

After you are all done coloring add a layer of paint to the back.

Paint the Idea-ology foliage flowers with Ventaj Patina inks. I love how easy it is to paint metal with these inks and clean up is a breeze. Just wash your brushes out with water.

Paint the oval Ornate Plate with the Patina Inks then sand with a Sanding block.

Assemble your necklace by adding the Flowers with brads through the Ornate Plate. Cut an oval of music print card stock that has been mounted onto chip board to fit the Ornate Plate. Glue the oval into the Ornate Plate. This will be your background. Add the word "friends" from the ChitChat words. Pop dot and glue the Bird Branch to the Ornate Plate. Add a Bauble pearl to the bottom with a jump ring. Ball Chain make the perfect necklace, just attach with jump rings to the top of the Ornate Plate..

Check out what the incredible Inspiration Team has created with Shrink Plastic. I guarantee you will be Inspired to join in and make your own.

Thanks for stopping by!
I'd love to hear from you before you head over to the Inspiration Emporium blog to see more Inspiration using Shrink Plastic.

Halloween Fun!

Hi friends!
It's been so hot in Sacramento lately that I'm ready for some cooler weather. So bring on the fall weather, a girls gotta dream, right! anyway here's hoping for cooler weather.
Halloween anyone?

Start with a piece of orange Kraft-core card stock cut to 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" then score and fold in half. Cut the black mat 3 7/8" x 5 1/8" and from the new Authentique "Enchanted line I used the "Charmed" card stock and cut a piece 3 3/4" X 5". From the diagonal stripe cut a strip 3/4" x 5 1/2". Distress all the edges with a paper distresser and in the edges with Walnut Stain Distress Ink on an Ink Blending Tool.

Using your Movers and Shapers Mini Cat die, die cut a hole (cat) in the patter paper where you want your cat to show through. I find it easiest to hold the die to the paper were I want it to be and then carefully place it in the base tray. Place the cutting plate on top and run it through your Vagabond. Woo hoo! Pop dot all the element to the card. Wrap the black netting around the card over the strip and tie with a bow.

Die cut some little tickets from the Mini Ticket set and stamp with the Tim Holts set #100, they line up perfectly. Don't forget to distress the edges with Walnut Stain Distress Ink on an Ink Blending Tool. Add the Boo with some alpha stamps with Rusty Hinge Distress ink and you're ready to put the finishing touches on your card. Sand the Halloween Token to reveal the metal, this will make it stand out. Jump ring the Token to the Memo Pin and add the Tickets. I love Halloween! Looking for some Halloween supplies? Find what you need over at Inspiration Emporium, they have it all!

Hope you all have a creative weekend!

Let's Go Fly A Kite!

Go fly a kite...is the challenge this month at Inspiration Emporium!! I hope you will join in by making a project of your own and linking a photo on the Inspiration Emporium blog! You will get a chance to win $50.00 in Emporium dollars and you know how much you like to shop at the Emporium right. So get busy my friends. You have until August 31st to get your projects done and linked. You can even enter as many projects as you want. So have fun and create away!!
The theme "Go fly a kite" brought me back to my childhood when we use to go to the park or the beach and fly kites. Oh the fun we had...

The background is the same as the background I did on the Sizzix blog last week. I had some left over backgrounds so I decided it would be perfect for this challenge too.

After die cutting Sticky Back Canvas and Metal Foil Tape letters from the Word Play die, a Tim Holtz Alterations Bigz die, I adhered the letters to my watercolor paper. I also used the Harlequin Border in a few spots. If you are doing a tag you can start with a #8 tag instead. Once you have your letters down apply a coat of Gesso over the top and let dry.

Now the fun begins, be sure to cover your surface this can get pretty messy. That's the fun of it! Spray the entire surface using Dylusion ink sprays, I used London Blue, Vibrant Turquoise, and Pure Sunshine. Love these colors together. The colors are very muted over the Gesso I really like this look.

Let the inks sit of the surface for a while then blot off the excess ink with a paper towel then dry with a heat tool.

Here's the tag. For me I just die cut a tag from the scraps off my previous project! Using a Paper Distresser distress the edges then ink with Vintage Photo Distress ink on an Ink Blending tool.

Next, stamp some texture in the background with Archival Ink. I used French Ultramarine and Sepia with some stamps from Stampers Anonymous's Tim Holtz line.

Stamp the large dots with Snow Cap acrylic Paint Dabber. Be sure to clean your stamp right away so the paint doesn't dry on the stamp.

I needed some children to fly my kites. Hummmm..... These new Tim Holtz stamps have children but funny thing they are in halloween costumes. So, I cut there halloween hats off and now they are just children. It's all about using what you have and making it work, right!

For the rest of the tag I cut a few kites form left over scrapbook paper and with a pen I outlined them and added the cross bars. Pop dot it all to your tag. Chit Chat words are a favorite of mine so I added these words "Let's go fly a kite". I had to make some of the words by cutting up other words and gluing them back together. Don't forget to ink the edges with Vintage Photo Distress ink on an Ink Blending tool. Add some light weight string and Bakers Twine for the tails. There you have it. Childhood memories on my tag!

Here is another version with the same elements.
So now that you have taken a look at what I made, get busy. Put your own spin on this challenge "Go fly a kite". Head over to the blog and see what Alice Wertz, Jim Hankins, Kelly Booth, Linda Cain, Pam Hooten, Shelly Hickox and Stephanie Ackerman designed! OMG!!! They are all so amazing!

I feel very blessed to be a part of the Inspiration Emporium team with such amazing talent. Thank you Inspiration Emporium I L-O-V-E being a part of the team!

Creative Background Layout!

Hey bloggers!
Today I'm sharing a project over on the Sizzix blog!

This is my youngest Grandson Ty, he's 3 years old. I love being a Grandma! It's the best. I especially like the the stories about them. Just the other day my daughter-in-law called and said that Ty had jumped off the top of his sister, Kayla's playhouse. His older brother J told him to. Not sure how he got up there, but fearless comes to mind. Maybe he's preparing for the olympics. He really is the perfect third child, so easy going, funny, joyful and obviously a little fearless.

Head over to the Sizzix blog to see step by step instructions on how to make this fabulous background. Sizzix die cuts, Dylusion Spray Inks, Idea-ology, Gesso, Stickyback canvas and Metal Foil tape is a match made in heaven.

I'd love to hear from you.
Enjoy your day!
